College from September 2006 |
|
Soham Village College
has appointed a new principal who is hoping to add to the school's success. Dr
Carin Taylor was deputy head at
Prince William
School
in Oundle, Northamptonshire, for three years. She takes over from
Dr David Lunn, who has been acting principal since September 2005 when Howard
Gilbert moved to
St Ivo
School, St Ives. Dr Taylor, 41, said: "I am delighted to be joining
Soham Village College
as its Principal. It is a privilege to be asked to lead such a successful school
described by Ofsted as outstanding. "I look forward to building on the very many
strengths of
Soham
Village College, in partnership with its talented and committed team of
staff, governors, parents and pupils to provide a truly outstanding centre of
excellence for all." Dr Taylor, who lives in Ramsey with her husband, Roger, two
sons, aged eight and 11 and 14-year-old daughter, studied mediaeval history at
Cambridge for her PhD. She said: "The recent announcement of a second specialism
in Modern Foreign Languages is an exciting development for the College and this
will enable us to strengthen the outstanding work the College is already doing
as a Technology College." Dr Taylor recently spent her first full day at the school
and said: "It's a beautiful environment, very friendly and
co-operative staff and students." She will take up her position from 1st
September 2006. |
