A Councillor's
Comments - September 2002

In my last piece written for
Lodestar in July 2002 I wrote the police are an important part of our community’
- I was not to know then just how important they were to become! I can now
report that policing strategies for Soham have been reviewed and we will have a
total of four community beat officers. They are Kevin Humble, Mark Hodson, David
Leonard and a yet to be named lady police officer. It is anticipated that they
will have an office at the Weatheralls Health Centre. I am sure this news will
reassure our community. The future of the Clay street car park in under review from our colleagues at
the District Council because this car park is very seldom used. The town council
are discussing various options for this site - no decisions have been made and
the debate will continue. Sadly Lionel Hart has resigned from the Town council. Lionel has been a
councillor for many years and stepped into the breach as Chairman after the sad
passing of Meg Ennion. He is involved in various community projects where his
support is always welcome All of us at the council wish him well for the future
and would like to thank him for his work. Kindest Regards,
Fiona Ross
Soham Town Councilor
